Our client blogger has mentioned Ultrasound Cavitation performed here at Totally Transformed in Newcastle upon Tyne a number of times in her blogs, but it is not as well known a treatment as some of our others such as Fat Freezing. So, what is ultrasound cavitation? What can it be used for and why do our clients love it so much?
What is Ultrasound Cavitation and how does the technology work?
Ultrasound Cavitation uses ultrasonic waves to disrupt fat cells by causing a vibration within the tissue. Fat Cells don’t like vibration and the lipids (the content of fat cells) leak out of the cell into the space around them, they’re then released into your body and burned off as calories The fatty acids which remain are treated by your body as a natural waste product. Your lymphatic system takes care of this and expels them from your body as it would with any natural waste.
During an Ultrasound Cavitation treatment, a gel is placed onto the area to be treated. This gel acts as a bond between the cavitation handpiece and the skin, to stop the ultrasound waves being interrupted by air space between the skin and the handpiece. The handpiece is moved across your skin in a circular motion for around 20-30 minutes (depending on the area being treated).
What can it be used for?
Cavitation is an excellent fat loss treatment for larger surface areas such as the abdomen or thighs but depending on the level of fat it can be used in other areas such as the back and buttocks. A full and comprehensive consultation would always be carried out prior to any of our treatments so you will always get the best treatment for the body concerns you have.
Does it work?
Ultrasound provides real measurable inch loss from the very first treatment and measured results are often visible immediately. But patience is advised because the very best results from this treatment is visible in the weeks and months afterwards. As with all inch loss and fat loss treatments, results from Ultrasound Cavitation do vary from person to person, based on a clients body shape and commitment to aftercare but here at Totally Transformed we’ve seen clients lose a total of 18 inches from 3 measured points on their abdomen following a course of 6 Ultrasound Cavitation treatments delivered at weekly intervals.
Can it be used in conjunction with other treatments?
Skin tightening treatments are especially popular to combine with this treatment as it tightens the skin as inches are lost through fat loss treatments. A session of ultrasound cavitation immediately following a fat freeze can also be beneficial to break down the frozen ‘dead’ fat cells quicker.
What aftercare advice should you follow to get the very best results from Ultrasound Cavitation?
Its quite simple, lead a healthy lifestyle. Eat the right foods and drink plenty of water. The last thing that you want to do after paying out for a treatment such as Ultrasound Cavitation is to counteract the benefits of the treatment by replenishing fat cells, so make sure that your calorie intake is not exceeding what you burn off in a day and give your body a fair chance to flush out fatty acids by drinking the recommended amount of water daily.
