The surprising benefits of LED facials
If you have been following us, or indeed any salon offering facials then you are bound to have seen the LED Phototherapy facial mask before. But despite its strange and some may say creepy appearance, there are some surprising benefits to using this technology with a professional facial.
Here at Totally Transformed, we use the original market leading phototherapy mask by Déese Pro, which is used by facialists to the stars and loved by celebrities such as Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen and Katy Perry.
How do they work?
Underneath the white plastic mask, there are 770 medical grade, surface mounted LED Lights which use low level light therapy to expose the skin to clinically proven wavelengths of light, delivered at safe and extremely therapeutic doses. The Déese Pro is completely safe and is pain-free and can be used at two different intensity settings with a range of combinations for different skin types and skin concerns. Each colour light has a different depth they are capable of penetrating the skin at and they are measured in NM (Nanometres).
What combinations are offered and how do they help my skin?
The LED Phototherapy Mask we use in the treatment suite is capable of 8 different modes(combinations) as pictured below. There really is a mode for every skin type and person. Skin complaints and concerns treated include:
- Anti-ageing
- Anti-acne
- Detoxifying
- Pigmentation
- Post Procedure
- Rosacea
- Congested Acne
- Inflammatory Acne
What to expect when having this treatment?
We use the Déese Pro in combination with our Luxury Cliniccare Facials to ensure that our clients get the very best from the products we use on their skin. We also use it as a stand-alone treatment.
When you come to us for one of our luxury facials, we will discuss your skincare concerns with you and use the Cliniccare products suited to your skin issues. Facials will include a mild chemical peel, cleanse, tone, moisturise and complimenting sheet mask (which you will be able to take home to use another two times). The Déese Pro mask will then be placed onto your face and will be there for around 20/30 minutes.
When you come to us for the Déese Pro LED Phototherapy as a standalone treatment, we will ensure discuss the concerns you have with your skin and will ensure your skin is clean and free from anything that could block the LEDs penetration of your skin layers such as make up. The mask will then remain on your face for up to 60 minutes (depending on the length of treatment you chose). We do recommend booking a course of 10 of these treatments spaced at least week apart to ensure best results.
There is no downtime associated with this treatment and you can go about your normal day straight after, including the reapplication of makeup.
A common misconception with this mask is that it can tan your skin. The Déese Pro mask does not contain any UV LEDs and therefore it is not possible to get a tan from using this mask, which means the risks from UV exposure are also mitigated. There are some associated risks and minor side-effects to the LED Mask which we thought were important to mention. Some clients report redness and an increase in breakouts following treatment. The redness should subside in a few hours and its normal for breakouts to occur as your skin renews itself and the LED benefits start to wear off. We recommend maintenance treatments for this reason 3 months after your course of treatments end.
